Bridgewater
Town
The town was first settled around 1788. Named after the Duke of Bridgewater, agriculture always has been important to the town and remains so today with its rich, fertile land. It is the birthplace of Stephen Moulton Babcock (1843-1931), an agricultural chemist called the "Father of Scientific Dairying".
