The Town of Springfield straddles Route 20 at the extreme northern end of Otsego County. Established in 1797, Springfield is rich in history, natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The Springfield 4th of July Parade is one of the oldest in the U.S. celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2014. Otsego Lake, the home of the James Fenimore Cooper novels and the Glimmerglass Opera offers year-round fishing, camping and summer beach facilities at Glimmerglass State Park.
